Step-by-step guide to anonymizing answer script cover sheets before valuers receive physical or digital answer sheets.

Operational Overview

What this guidecovers

Examination integrity requires strict anonymity. The Examination Console masks student names, roll numbers and institute codes behind coded barcodes before a script reaches any valuation table — so a valuer marks the answers, never the candidate.

Hardware & Environment Requirements

  • Shippra Exams Console access for Examination Controller role
  • Barcode label printer or high-speed document scanner for paper script evaluation

Step-by-Step Execution

Implementationinstructions

01.

Generate Examination Secrecy Envelopes

In Exams Console > Secrecy Engine, select the examination session and subject paper. Click "Generate Secrecy Envelopes" to create a coded evaluation barcode for each registered candidate.

02.

Affix / Print Masked Cover Sheets

Print the generated secrecy tear-off flap cover sheets. The candidate’s real roll number sits under a tear-off security flap, while the evaluator only sees the encrypted secrecy barcode.

03.

Independent Double Valuation Entry

Valuer 1 enters marks against Secrecy ID `SEC-882104`. Valuer 2 independently marks the script. Neither valuer sees the student’s identity, background, or the other valuer’s score.

04.

Automated Discrepancy Resolution & Unmasking

If Valuer 1 and Valuer 2 scores differ by more than the institution’s configured threshold (e.g., >15%), the system automatically flags the script for Chief Examiner review before unmasking the candidate row.

Guide Questions

Frequently asked questions

Can valuers or data entry clerks deduce candidate identities?

No. The secrecy mapping table is stored encrypted in your database instance and is accessible only to the designated Controller of Examinations.

What happens between final valuation and the result?

Nothing that involves re-typing. Once the Controller approves unmasking, tabulation is computed from the marks the valuers already entered — there is no transcription step between valuation and the result. When to publish is the Controller’s call.
