Examination & AssessmentFrom question bank to result, sealed the whole way
Question banks, scheduling, seating, blind double valuation and tabulation — a controller-of-examinations console where the paper stays sealed until the hall needs it and the result can be checked by anyone it is shown to.
Why
Exams
From question bank to result, sealed the whole wayThe examination season as one sealed record — papers, seating, valuation and the result.
The seal holds
A paper stays shut until the morning it is needed, so secrecy no longer rests on a trusted few.
No tabulation register
The mark a valuer enters is the mark that is added up — nobody copies it into a second book.
The hall, offline
Attendance and script counts are taken in the hall whether or not the connection reaches it that morning.
Answerable afterwards
When a candidate questions a result, the season can be walked back step by step and answered from the record.
Today
An examination cell runs on worry. Question papers travel as sealed bundles somebody has to guard, answer scripts move between rooms as paper, and the weeks before results are spent cross-checking a marksheet register line by line.
What we did about it
We sat inside examination cells through the season and rebuilt the chain — question bank to paper, seating to script, valuation to tabulation — as one sealed record. Papers stay locked until the hall needs them, and valuers mark scripts without ever knowing whose they are.
Inside
Exams
What the examination cellno longer has to guard
The question bank
Papers assembled to blueprint from a bank that never leaves the vault.
Seating without the chart paper
Halls, seats and invigilation drawn up automatically, with attendance kept in the hall.
Marking without names
Two valuers score the same script independently, neither knowing the candidate.
The result, added up honestly
Marks become results by calculation, with moderation and conduct cases on the record.
The conduct file
Incidents recorded as they happen, and decisions recorded with them.
A result that can be checked
Marksheets and certificates verifiable by anyone a student ever shows them to.
Who may sit
Examination forms, eligibility checked against dues and attendance, and a hall ticket that reaches the candidate.
When a result is questioned
Re-checks, revaluation and supplementary attempts handled on the same record, with the original marks kept beside the revised ones.
What changes
Who the secrecy used to rest on
The secrecy that used to depend on a locked cupboard and a trusted few becomes simply how the system works. Results arrive sooner, because tabulation is arithmetic on marks already entered — and every step can be audited afterwards.
Controller of Examinations
The season runs on a sealed record instead of a guarded cupboard.
Evaluators & valuers
Scripts without names — marking without pressure.
Students & candidates
A schedule they can see, a hall ticket on their phone, and a result they can prove.
A day
with it
A season, sealed from paper to result
Everything is written once, at the desk where it happens, and read everywhere it is needed afterwards.
The paper is set
Assembled from the bank, sealed until the morning it is needed.
The hall is arranged
Seats, scripts and invigilators settled before the first candidate arrives.
Scripts are marked blind
Valuers see answers, not names; disagreements go to a third reader.
The result goes out
Tabulated from the record and published — verifiable, and on time.
Controls
Sealed until the hall, answerable long after
The secrecy an examination season used to ask of a few trusted people, written instead into how the desk works.
Who may see a script
A paper-setter sees only the questions they set, a valuer only the work allotted to them, and the season whole only the controller.
The season, walked back
Who set the paper, who opened the packet, who entered a mark, who moderated it — each with the person and the moment.
Behind its own door
A candidate's name never reaches the valuer, and the paper before its morning or a malpractice file mid-hearing sits behind its own door.
What the committee signed
Moderation, grace, condonation and a withheld result each carry the approval that allowed them, recorded where the decision was taken.
The marks ledger is yours
The question bank you built and the award lists behind every result belong to the institution, and can be taken out whole.
The hall keeps working
An examination hall is often the room no signal reaches; attendance and script counts are taken there anyway, and catch up afterwards.
Works
with
One record,not one more system
Exams can be adopted on its own. It is worth more beside the rest, because a record entered once is known to all of them — nobody types the same student in twice.

What a controller asks us first
Do answer scripts still travel as paper?
Yes — candidates write on paper, scripts still reach valuation in bundles, and you keep doing that part. What changes is the register that follows them: every packet is booked out and booked back in against its coded numbers, so you can say where a bundle is and who is holding it without opening a dispatch book.
Can we start with a season already under way?
Partly, and honestly it is better to begin at the next paper-setting. A season whose scripts are already marked can be brought in at tabulation — awarded marks are entered, and results are calculated and published from there. Blind valuation cannot be applied backwards to scripts a valuer has already seen with names on them.
Do our examination regulations have to change?
No. Your ordinance is set up as it stands — grading scale, weightages, moderation limits, condonation, back-paper rules — and the console follows it rather than the other way round. The one piece of real work is the first week, when rules that live in a senior colleague's memory have to be written down once.
How does blind valuation work in a small department?
Scripts carry coded numbers, a valuer is allocated work rather than choosing it, and two independent readings go to a third reader when they disagree beyond the margin you set. Where a department is small enough that handwriting is recognisable, the system cannot pretend otherwise. What it can do is make sure the mark entered is the mark counted, and that who marked what is answerable afterwards.
